This web site was created to be installed on a number of web hosting providers and tested with GTMetrix and Google’s page speed analysis to compare the performance of the web hosting providers.
The results will be posted at Number1Hosting.com
Why do this?
- Because I wanted a realistic, if simplistic, blog site to use for performance testing.
- Because performance of a web site is so important to Google these days.
This site does not have tons of plugins, which are often the cause of bad performance. This is because:
- I wanted to be able to leave this site up as an example, so I built it as a free site on wordpress.com, and they do not let you install plugins on a free site.
- I wanted to avoid a situation where a host has optimized for a specific plugin.
I used the default WordPress twenty-twenty theme, since it is available on all hosts by default, and it is a high-quality good-performing theme.
